How to Do the Ardha Kati Chakrasana (Lateral Arc Position)
In doing yoga, it’s important to do the asanas properly so that you can reap the maximum benefit from the pose. The Ardha Kati Chakrasana, or the Lateral Arc Position, is done to bring balance to the body. When done properly, it lengthens the muscles between the ribs and pelvis, and also opens the sides of your rib cage.
There are many benefits of doing the Ardha Kati Chakrasana (from Sanskrit: Ardha means half, kati means waist, and Chakra means wheel). This pose will improve your flexibility, relaxes the side of your body, helps reduce abdominal fat, and tones the muscles there.
Those with a problem in their knees, hips, or shoulders, however, should be careful in doing this pose.
Watch the video below as Dr. Sohail Ebady, a yoga teacher and hypnotherapist for more than 20 years, shows how the Ardha Kati Chakrasana is done. Dr. Ebady currently runs Yoga Teacher Training in Bali.
